Who we are

This website is operated by J.E.N BEAUTY LOUNGE LTD., a private beauty studio at Flat 138, Nokes Court, Commonwealth Drive, Crawley, RH10 1AN, United Kingdom. You can reach us at any time by email at hello@jenbeautylounge.co.uk. For the purposes of UK data protection law, J.E.N BEAUTY LOUNGE LTD. is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.

What data we collect

Direct emails

If you write to us — for example to ask about a treatment, request directions or enquire about visiting the studio — we receive whatever you choose to include in your message: typically your name, email address and the content of your enquiry. We use this information only to reply to you and, where you go on to book, to arrange and manage your appointment.

Server logs

Like almost every website, our hosting server automatically records technical details when a page is requested. This can include your IP address, the browser and device you are using, the page visited, the referring page and the time of the request. These logs are used for security, diagnosing faults and keeping the site running, and are not used to identify individual visitors.

Cookies and local storage

Our site uses a small number of cookies and browser local storage entries. The only item we set directly is a record of your cookie-consent choice, stored in your browser's local storage so the consent banner does not ask you again. Where you consent, third-party cookies may also be set for analytics and for advertising served by Microsoft Advertising. These are described in our cookie policy and our advertising policy.

Embedded Google Maps

Our contact page embeds a Google Maps map so you can find the studio. When the map loads, your browser connects directly to Google, and Google may set its own cookies and process data such as your IP address in accordance with Google's privacy practices. We have no control over, and take no responsibility for, the data Google collects when the map loads. Loading the map is optional — you can simply close the page or avoid scrolling to that section if you prefer not to connect to Google.

How we use your information

We use personal data only where we have a lawful basis to do so:

  • To respond to your emails and arrange appointments — on the basis of our correspondence with you and, once an appointment exists, the steps needed to provide our services.
  • To keep the website secure and functioning — on the basis of our legitimate interest in running a safe, reliable website.
  • To remember your cookie preference and, where consented, to measure readership and support advertising — on the basis of your consent, which you may withdraw at any time.

We do not sell personal data, and we do not share it with third parties except where needed to operate this website (for example, our hosting provider and the third parties described above, such as Google for the embedded map and Microsoft where advertising is displayed), or where the law requires it.

Microsoft Advertising

This website may display advertisements served by Microsoft Advertising (Bing). Where advertising cookies are permitted, Microsoft may use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads, including ads tailored to your interests. Please see our advertising policy for how Microsoft collects and uses data, and how to opt out.

Data retention

Email correspondence is kept only for as long as it is needed: enquiry emails are reviewed and deleted when no longer relevant, and appointment-related records are kept for a reasonable period afterwards in case you return. Server logs are rotated and deleted by our hosting provider after a short retention window. Your cookie-consent record remains in your browser's local storage until you clear it or use the "Cookie settings" link in our footer to remove it.

Your rights

Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you;
  • Ask us to correct any inaccurate or incomplete data;
  • Ask us to erase your personal data (the "right to be forgotten");
  • Object to, or ask us to restrict, certain processing;
  • Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent;
  • Complain to the supervisory authority.

To exercise any of these rights, simply email hello@jenbeautylounge.co.uk and we will respond within the timeframes required by law. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK regulator for data protection. You can contact the ICO at ico.org.uk or by telephone on 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time as the website or the law changes. The version on this page, with its effective date, is the one that currently applies. If we make a significant change, we will note it here; continued use of the site after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
